Florence + The Machine (UK)
On Thursday 13th of August Florence + The Machine will headline Øya, with the first concert in Norway in three years.
Florence Welch has become an international star in impressively short time. Both the debut album Lungs (2009) and Ceremonial (2011) has went to number one in the British charts. This fall, Florence + The Machine has finished work on the third album, which will be out next year. We expect that 2015 will be her biggest year so far in the career.
We still remember when we first heard the song Kiss With A Fist in 2008. Since then she has had hits like You’ve Got The Love, Shake It Out and Spectrum (Say My Name). Florence has become a major live attraction, and she is known for her dramatic performances and music.
Rolling Stone describes her music like this: – Here the scale is vastly inflated: turbulent ballads, powered by booming drums and vocal chorales rising like distant thunder, full of Welch’s banshee wails. The music touches on Celtic melodies, bluesy rock stomps, nods to goth and gospel. But the wind never stops howling.
During the summer of 2015, she is one of the top names of many of Europe’s best festivals. We are proud to present the Florence + The Machine in our large but intimate amphitheater.
