A master of sophisticated pop music.
Sondre Lerche has been one of the premier pop artists in Norway for about 15 years. Most of his album have reached the top ten of the album chart. Last year the vital and critically acclaimed album Please was released. The lyrics are inspired by heartache and breakups, while a large part of the music is upbeat good time pop.
Popmatters.com wrote this about the new album: – … Please is an art-pop affair of the first order, a kind of recording that happens when someone knows just what his wheelhouse is and is able to experiment from within it in invigorating ways.
Lerche was still in his teens when he got national attention at the start of the millennium. With the debut album Faces Down he became a new Norwegian pop sensation. His music is well received by the public and critics, at home and abroad. Lerche has toured with his hero Elvis Costello, Air, Stereolab and St. Vincent. For a few years he lived in New York, for inspiration and songwriting. He made the soundtrack to the movie Dan In Real Life.
At Øya he will give us delicious pop from different parts of his career.
