CHAIRLIFT (US)
Thursday
Perhaps you’ve gotten hooked on Chairlift’s radio hit “Bruises”? The song, by the way, was also used in the marketing of the latest edition of iPod Nano. Now you can get to see the electro pop trio from Brooklyn in the Medieval Park during the Øya Festival. They’re originally from Colorado, but quickly recognized the need to move to New York. The band made their debut with the self-financed ‘Daylight Savings’ in 2007 and followed up this fall with the amazing pop album ‘Does You Inspire You’. Chairlift has shared stages with hot successes like MGMT and Yeasayer, though without being quite similar to any of them. The band does steal a little bit from modern indie, but also casts a glance back to the 80s. This is charming pop music that is likely to put you in a good mood and get you dancing. The Medieval Park and the sparkling August sun will provide the perfect setting for Chairlift. Don’t miss it.
