Many believe that Amanda Blank has a brilliant career ahead of her. We feel that we’ve waited for quite a while, but now she’s finally recorded her debut album, which will be out July 14. Some might be familiar with Amanda Blank from her cooperation with Spank Rock, Ghostface Killah, M.I.A. and Santigold. The most alert of Øya visitors might have noticed that she visited the Øya Festival back in 2006 together with Spank Rock. We saw her live in the US a few months back and immediately became fans. Amanda Blank’s first solo album – due this summer, as mentioned – will be out on Downtown Records (Gnarls Barkley, MSTRKRFT, Santigold and others). Rumor has it that there are guest appearances on the album by Diplo, Lykke Li, Santigold and David Sitek from TV on the Radio, as well as a few others. Amanda is a unique artist who is into both rock and hip hop. At the Øya Festival you’ll get to enjoy one of the hottest new American rappers right now. On Saturday Aug. 15 she’ll perform in the Medieval Park and get you all into a summer groove that’ll last until the first snowfall. There’s every reason to get excited, we can assure you of that. Our booking crew had a really great time at her show at SXSW in Austin this spring. Now they’re looking forward to seeing her blow the minds of the Oslo crowd.
