Most people might not be familiar with this New York band yet, but we think this will change before the summer. Their self-financed album Why There Are Mountains was labeled “best new music” a couple of months ago. The young guys from Staten Island have been inspired by cult bands and legends like Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. Cymbals Eat Guitars go about their songs in a fearless and ambisious way. They are already a hot name in USA and they have toured with Flaming Lips. Charles Bissel from The Wrens predicted that “… Cymbals Eat Guitars/Joseph Ferocious will end up indie famous within the year", and he’s probably right. You’ll get a chance to get more aquainted with this quartet at Øya. Look forward to scruffy guitar sounds and sassy melodies under the hot sun.
