SURFER BLOOD (US)
Thursday
Surfer Blood from sunny West Palm Beach in Florida can hardly be called a pure surfer rock band. Like it says on their myspace; “none of us surf”. Still, there is no doubt that these guys have heard their share of Beach Boys, just like they have been listening to a broad selection of quirky pop from the 90’s. Their debut album Astro Cast, releasing in January, is so far an unexplored goodie bag of happy pop and rock. Maybe this will be your summer record of 2010. More tasters are available online, and we suggest you check them out. During recent time, this band has been on the road with amongst others Japandroids, Monotonix and Jay Reatard. We discovered this young band during CMJ in New York this fall. They weren’t only the best band but also one of the most eager bands with 12 concerts in only a few days. If you like the addictive song Swim (to Reach the End) as much as we do at the Øya-office, this might actually be worth the whole Øya-pass alone.
