ARIEL PINK'S HAUNTED GRAFITTI (US)
Wednesday
This week, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti released the album Before Today and the critics are falling over themselves praising it. Norwegian national paper VG gave the album a well deserved top score in their review. We believe this is a record ready to be discovered by many during this summer. Ariel Marcus Rosenberg alledgedly started writing songs already in primary school. At a grown age, he is more famous under the name Ariel Pink, and during recent years he has built a fanbase that highly appreciates his strange approach to freaked out lofi pop. During recent years he has formed a band to be able to perform his music on stage. This is what is called Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti. In late fall last year, he was signed at legendary 4AD, which houses big names like Pixies, Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus, The National, tUnE-yArDs and also Serena Maneesh how are confirmed for Øya this year. Previously only releasing a few singles, the long-awaited album Before Today is finally out. American Pitchfork and Norwegian national papers VG, Dagbladet and Dagsavisen are examples of music press already hailing the album Before Today. The latter conluded: "Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti manages to be both strange yet very accessible on this album. Even though a lot of it sounds “clever”, the album is full of unpredictable and playful twists; in other words, this is a pretty perfect mix of experimenting and belief in good melodies."
