DAMO SUZUKI (JP)
RADIO 9 (UK/N)
SOUND CARRIERS
Kosmische club has been home to some of the most sweaty, wild, and slightly unhinged nights known to London’s clubland. Now Djing regularly in Oslo, Kosmische Club proves that it is possible to dance to krautrock. ‘Krautrock, electronica and music from the future’ is the motto: you can expect propulsive grooves, textured soundscapes, and some genuinely OUT THERE music.
DAMO SUZUKI (JP)
Damo Suzuki – the legendary singer of Can – has been on a “never-ending tour”, creating “instant composition” [as Can did] with selected musicians in whichever town he visits. Tonight’s line-up features an all-star line-up from some of Oslo’s best Kraut-inspired bands.
RADIO9 (UK/N)
Featuring members of Je Suis Animal and ex-members of Salvatore and Placebo, Radio 9 is a kraut-inspired UK/Norway act, combining melody-driven songs with lush electronics, filthy guitars, and hypnotic drumming. Radio 9 take Neu!’s motorik template and add a 21st century twist. The band has recently recorded with Paul Epworth (Bloc party, Futureheads) and Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Sons and Daughters).

THE DEATH SET (US)
PILOOSKI (FR/DJ SET)
ASEL (N/DJ SET)
THE DEATH SET (US)
Their music may be best described as a mix of explosive punk, electronic synth licks, and simple beat box rhythms, performed as well as recorded with an enormous enthusiasm and energy, and all of it in a true DIY spirit. If you like Matt & Kim, Spank Rock, or Bode Do Role, then you’re going to love this duo. When they play live, their line-up is expanded to include a drummer. They currently reside in Baltimore, USA, but are usually out and about playing live. Come and see them for the first time in Norway (but surely not the last) at Nighttime Øya.
PILOOSKI (FR/DJ SET)
He may be the most famous for his amazing edits of everything from Pointer Sisters, Can, and not least Franki Valli and the superhit “Beggin’”, i.a. on the awesome 12” series Mindless Boogie. He also constitutes half of Discodeine and is a member of the Paris collective Dirty Sound System. He has a unique ability to pick forgotten songs from the back catalogues of various artists and edit these into dance floor diamonds – on which it most likely will be hot, sweaty, and intense when he performs at Nighttime Øya.
ASEL (N/DJ SET)
On the Bergen electro scene, this guy is involved in a whole lot of different stuff. He is, among other things, the host of the Ekko Festival, The Fix, and the popular club nights Hot Hot together with his buddy Mikal Tellé. You’ll get a chance to experience a Hot Hot evening when these guys perform at Stratos together with Whitest Boy Alive during Nighttime Øya, but on this evening it’ll be only Asel serving a wide selection of danceable electronic and alternative music.

THE WHITE TIGER PREPADE (N)
After a two year long absence from Oslo, godfathers NOXAGT are back with a new album, filled with sonic presence. Two other Norway Rat acts will play as well: ÅRABROT, Western Norway’s most unrelenting noise rock trio, who are under way with their third album, this time with Steve Albini as producer, and THE WHITE TIGER PREPEADE, a duo founded on charma, maximum joy, and alpha waves, and with their debut album on the way. In order to tie a tight knot around the whole package, DJ Toggi and DJ Emÿle will also be there, and GHOSTKAMERA will supply visual effects/films. Be prepared to see your fave Amphetamine Reptile video, or quite simply some seriously wicked shit!

SHAA’IR + FUNC (IN/US)
WHITE WILLIAMS (US)
SHAA’IR + FUNC (IN/US)
Shaa’ir + Func are DIY artists from Mumbai and New York who compose and produce music together. They released the album ‘New Day – The Love Album’ on Counterculture Records last year. Now, in addition to touring in India, England, and the US, they’re busy recording the follow-up. In India they wound up at #9 on the top ten newcomers list on VH1. Shaa’ir is from New York, has a background as performance artist, and has also done some acting on Broadway. Func has an art education from Mumbai and has been in an Indian rock band called Pentagram for fourteen years.
WHITE WILLIAMS (US)
White Williams was founded back in 1999 by Joe Williams. It’s been a long and winding road through noise-related music under the names Mr Mad Man and USA Crypt, then by way of Melt Banana, Sightings, Pink and Brown, Lightning Bolt, Black Dice, and The Rapture to where they are today: an eclectic, electronic indie band. The current version of White Williams was formed in 2002-2003, when they toured under the name So Red together with mash up king Girl Talk, who is also on the Øya bill. White Williams is out with a new album, and you’ll probably read more about them soon in magazines and blogs.

THE OCEAN (DE)
The German version of Isis and Neurosis! The band’s fourth album, ‘Precambrian’, has gotten rave reviews, and The Ocean sounds harder than ever. Intense, brutal, and stripped-down music in the genre of modern and epic metal. Complex and without unnecessary ornamentation – a royal bastard of a hybrid between The Dillinger Escape Plan and Dimmu Borgir, as well as buddies of Converge – that is metal mag Kerrang’s conclusion!

THE URGES (IE)
THE SONICSUB (N)
THE URGES (IE)
Primitive garage punk sound!!! The Urges are the hottest and coolest shit to come out of Dublin since Them featuring Van Morrison early in the sixties. The boys in The Urges came crawling out of their den in 2004 and have since then kicked some serious ass with their stripped-down-psychedelic-primal-zombie garage punk, with loads of fuzztone guitars and organs. With some incredibly rough and wicked songs and a distinct sound inspired by sixties punk acts like The Electric Prunes, The 13th Floor Elevators, Music Machine, The Seeds, and The Pretty Things, The Urges have made a strong name for themselves in underground circles. They’ve played with just about everything from heroes like Billy Childish, The Buzzcocks, and Paul Weller to indie bands like The Strokes and Babyshambles. Late November last year they also played support for The Sonics at their first reunion gig, which took place at the Cavestomp Festival in New York. Their debut album, ‘Psych Ward’, which came out earlier this year, is quite simply awesome and a ” psyched-out zombie rocker complete with all the horror show ingredients: the devilishly swirling Farfisa organ, the bendy guitar twangs and a singer who howls like a teenage werewolf at a beach party”, as The Irish Times so eloquently put it. So get down to the 13th Floor Club to shake it loose with you new caveman faves The Urges after The Sonics gig in the Medieval Park is over.
In Fuzz We Trust! The 13th Floor DJs will make sure you enjoy yourself to the max with garage, punk, and surf before and after the gig.
THE SONICSUB (N)
Rebellion? Hardly. At least not in the most evident sense of the word, though it’s still a likely ingredient. It sure sounds like it, though, when the forever young gentlemen in The SonicSub wreak rock’n’roll havoc in a way that proves that the golden age of rock ain’t over just yet.
It was a dark and desperate time for garage rock lovers when The Moods dissolved – many questions went unanswered, and yet another era was irrevocably over. Luckily, a couple of former Moods-members, Njål Brauer (vocals) and Erik Hovde (guitar), stuck their heads together and recruited one helluva rhythm section: Eivind Finsrud on bass and Even Finsrud on drums. Before you could say “The Moods have dissolved”, The SonicSub had arisen from the ashes. One should of course, as the old proverb says, strike the iron while it’s still hot. The SonicSub plays together with The Urges on Saturday, the same day as The Sonics will be bombarding the audience with fuzz in the Medieval Park.

THE PRESETS (AU)
LA RIOTS (US)
THE PRESETS (AU)
Over the past few years, Australia has been responsible for an entire wave of bands that operate in the intersection between electronica, pop, and rock. One of them is Cut Copy – already on the Øya bill – and another is Midnight Juggernauts. The Sydney-based duo The Presets is also surfing this wave, and with a sound that borrows just as much from the darker sides of the 80s as from modern dance music. The Presets are signed to Modular Recordings, which is also home to acts like The Avalanches, aforementioned Cut Copy, and Wolfmother, but their sound is a wee bit sharper and more club-oriented than those of their label mates. Imagine the Pet Shop Boys having two evil twins, or maybe a more danceable version of Depeche Mode.
LA RIOTS (US)
When you name your DJ-duo after one of the most famous riot incidents of the previous century, it naturally creates a certain level of expectation. Daniel Ledisco and Jo’B are known for their solid remixes of acts like Justice, Chromeo, Weezer, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Hot Chip, Mystery Jets, and VHS or Beta. Living up to the LA part of their name is not a problem for them, seen as Los Angeles is their home town. But the last part of the name might be equally relevant. Both as producers and DJs, the duo has the ability to make stuff that hits people straight in the abdominal area. Give these guys a couple of hours in any given club, and there will probably be riots taking place on the floor by the time the lights go on. On Thursday Aug. 7 they perform after The Presets at Parkteateret. It’s gonna be a riot.

AFASI & FILTHY (SE)
AFASI & FILTHY (SE)
This winter they ravaged clubs as 50% of the notorious Maskinen, and this spring they finally released their debut album, ‘Fläcken’. After a series of outstanding singles, expectations were high, and these were well and truly met. ‘Fläcken’ is a glorious album on which Afasi spits out macho-free rhymes over Filthy’s Southern-inspired beats. Their performance at Nighttime Øya will be their first in Norway ever!

HIAWATA! (N)
FUROREIHARARE DJ set (N)
HIAWATA! (N)
A short while back, this sympathetic bunch of guys released their debut album ’They Could’ve Been Bigger than Hiawata!’. On it you’ll find indie and pop that connoisseurs have compared to Beach Boys, The Lionheart Brothers, Belle & Sebastian, Television Personalities, and a lot more. NME: “Indie pop from Oslo, Norway, Hiawata remind me of cutie pop stalwarts Comet Gain, or Belle & Sebastian playing Nirvana songs. Totally tweemo!”
FUROREIHARARE DJ set (N)
Furoreiharare.com write about the music that they’re – and that you also should be – interested in. These guys are into everything from Norwegian indie, German electronica, dirty south hip hop, drone metal, shoegazing, to Swedish pop… and everything in between, of course!
THURSDAY AUG. 7
HARRYS GYM (N)
INDIEGRANSKAUEN (N)
HARRYS GYM (N)
Harrys Gym is one of Norway’s most promising bands. Fronted by the charismatic Anne Lise Frøkedal, the band delivers catchy rock songs with gloomy and poetic lyrics. From somewhere in the borderlands between Blonde Redhead and The Knife, Harrys Gyn brings forth songs that tend to stick to your brain. Having been absent from the Oslo music scene for far too long, they will luckily be out with their full-length debut this fall.
INDIEGRANSKAUEN (N)
The Bergen indie scene has boomed thanks to the girls behind the club concept Indiegranskauen. Awesome indie hits and a contagiously positive atmosphere among the club guests have coaxed even the most hardcore techno heads into sweaty and frenetic jumping about on the dance floor at the Indiegranskauen events over the past year. The girls will be bringing along both their records and the atmosphere to Øya.
FRIDAY AUG. 8
SPIRITS OF THE DEAD (N)
THE JOKER (DE)
GET DANCY (N)
SPIRITS OF THE DEAD (N)
Often referred to as ”Western Norwegian psychedelic stoner folk rock” or thereabouts. The band members all grew up in Western Norway, with its wind-swept and merciless nature, among long fjords and high mountains. One foot is firmly placed in the magic of the seventies, the other in a more modern rock sound. Anything can happen at their next gig. The album is ready and will be out on August 8.
THE JOKER (DE)
DJs both upstairs and downstairs this Friday! It wouldn’t be fair to save all the candy for Saturday, now, would it? The Joker is one of the driving forces behind the legendary club Kino la Bim in the German city Halle. When not occupied elsewhere, he travels around in the more unsafe neighborhoods of Colombian cities and makes a documentary on kids living on the streets. However, we managed to lure him into coming to Oslo with promises of sunshine and dancing Norwegian girls.
GET DANCY (N)
Dance till you drop! Many a soul has awoken the next day all cramped-up and stiff-muscled after a night out with Get Dancy. If you go to a Get Dancy evening, you dance. It’s that simple. The coolest indie hits, dance floor fillers, and wicked music in general are the ingredients on which on of Oslo’s most popular club concepts is brewed. Come, dance, and drink!
SATURDAY AUG. 9
MYSPACE SECRET SHOW
FYSISK FORMAT DJs (N)
MYSPACE SECRET SHOW
MySpace is proud to present Norway’s coolest punk rock act – a band loved by many, and which always get great reviews for their releases. The band will soon be out with their third album, and it all bodes extremely well. They’ve previously played the biggest stages at Øya, but this time it’s gonna get up close and personal. We’re really looking forward to this! Check out myspace.com/secretshowsnorway if you want to know more.
FYSISK FORMAT DJs (N)
Record store Tiger has through many years provided inspiration for countless talented and curious Norwegian acts. There are so many bands out there that Tiger decided to release a few of them on their own label: Fysisk Format. This evening they’ll turn up with their favorite records to make your day complete.

DENGUE FEVER (US)
We’d like to point out and emphasize that we’re not talking about the disease. Dengue Fever is a rock band inspired by something as a rare as sixties pop from Cambodia! The Asian sound is enhanced by the fact that most of the lyrics are sung in Khmer, so put all prejudices aside and let yourself be carried away by psychedelic pop and euphoric moods. The album ‘Venus on Earth’ is out now.

ORIGINAL SILENCE (US/NO/SE/IT)
Not only will Thurston Moore be playing the Øya Festival with his legendary Sonic Youth, he’ll also bring along some other friends of his and conjure up more magical stuff!
Original Silence will be out with the album ’The Second Original Silence’ – recorded in Rome last fall and released on Smalltown Superjazz – on August 11, and it will probably be just as great as we imagine. Just look what Pitchfork Media wrote:
“Picture Ornette Coleman sitting in with the Stooges (the old Stooges, that is) as they tear through ‘L.A. Blues’, and you’d be in the neighborhood of free jazz/noise rock/construction noise hybrid Original Silence.” (8,0 Pitchfork)
The Original Silence line-up consists of dream team Mats Gustafsson (saxophone, electronics), Massimo Pupillo (bass), Terrie Ex (guitar), Thurston Moore (guitar), Jim O’Rourke (electronics), and Paal Nilssen-Love (percussion).
NISENNENMONDAI (JAP)
The Japanese girls in the instrumental trio Nisennenmondai are out with ‘Tori/Neji’ (also on Smalltown Supersound) and have bands like No Age, Battles, and Prefuse 73 as fans. They’ve also charmed Dazed & Confused:
“With walls of distortion and a pummeling rhythmic backbone that fluctuates between krautrock`s repetition and free-rock calamity, bassist Zai, guitarist Ma-Chan, and drummer Hime have formed an unassuming juggernaut.” (Dazed & Confused)
FRIDAY AUG. 8, Rockefeller – Nighttime Øya
THE NOTWIST (DE)
CC. NOK 250,- w/Øya wrist band, 18 yr. ID
THE NOTWIST (DE)
The Notwist have over the past few years established themselves as one of the most exciting acts in their native country of Germany. They started out as a hardcore band, but have grown steadily more difficult to assign a particular genre label to. They move between guitar-driven pop and rock, as well as modern electronica, and they’re inspired by both jazz and other experimental music genres. The guys in Notwist have undoubtedly found their own unique style, and took the world by storm with the critically acclaimed album ‘Neon Golden’ a few years back. The album ‘The Devil, You and Me’ will be out in May.
FRIDAY AUG. 8, John Dee – Nighttime Øya
DON JUAN DRACULA (N)

DON JUAN DRACULA (N)
DJD say it best themselves: “This summer we will finally be back on the live curcuit with our first show on Norwegian soil since 2005. The very same week as the release of our new album ‘New Sensation’, Don Juan Dracula will be appearing at the Hove Festival in Arendal in the southern parts of Norway. We promise you that this release party will be the best DJD-show ever, with tons of surprises.”

PLANB AT STRATOS
STRATOS, WEDNESDAY AUG. 6
Boys Noize evening with Stip Steve and Les Petit Pilous
CC. NOK 180/140 , 20 yr. ID, 22.00 – 03.00
STRIP STEVE (FR)
The Bordeaux boy Strip Steve has been a hot topic over the past few months, i.a. on the blog site Discobelle and the Parisian electro scene. All the talk has basically been about the EP ‘Skip School” – which is an amazing piece of craftsmanship that demonstrates Strip Steve’s ability to mix catchy techno with playful house. Strip Steve is touring Europe intensively, and it’s high time he paid Norway a visit, too.
LES PETITS PILOUS (FR)
The Nice-based duo Les Petits Pilous makes really hard electro. The songs are marked by hard synth riffs, funny vocal samples, and a steady bass drum that leaves you with no choice but to surrender to the rhythm. Just when you start to think that their songs can’t get any harder and more danceable, Les Petit Pilous take you one step further, into a state of techno euphoria. Lately, the guys have done remixes for i.a. Justice and Teenagers, and they’ve been praised by electro guru Thomas Von Party, who also took them along on his US tour.
THUSRDAY AUG. 7
Moshi Moshi Records evening w/Metronomy (UK), The Wave Pictures (UK), and Best Fwends (US)
CC. NOK 180/140 , 20 yr. ID, 22.00 – 03.00
Not only do they have the world’s most pleasant label name, but London-based Moshi Moshi Records also have a rather pleasant taste in music, bordering on both pop, punk, and electro. Among the artists signed to the label are faves like Bloc Party, Hot Chip, Lo-Fi-FNK, Architecture In Helsinki, and Mates of State. They’ll be bringing along three acts and a DJ to Stratos, and we’re sure it’s gonna be a great evening.
METRONOMY (UK)
Metronomy is the project of Joseph Mount, but live-wise the band is a trio. It is the balance between the digital and the organic that forms the core in Metronomy’s primarily rhythmic songs, which holds references to everything from post punk and noise rock to hip hop and bit pop.
FRIDAY AUG. 8

CC. NOK 180/140 , 20 yr. ID, 22.00 – 03.00
DAVID E. SUGAR (UK)
Originating from the blip scene, Sugar sky-rocketed into the bloggosphere and our collective consciousness in 2007. Sugar makes in-your-face electro songs that would make Chromeo blush. These tight tracks are mixed with grand refrains and punchy pop hooks. At Stratos, Sugar will present his live set, and with such immediate pop songs you’ll have no reason not to dance. In fact, you won’t have a choice.
DJ JERRY BOUTHIER (FR/UK)
Jerry Bouthier is primarily known for being a resident DJ at the now closed-down and already legendary London club BoomBox. BoomBox’ reputation as a super club and a taste-maker in the finest of electronic music led to Bouthier being asked to make a mix album of Kitsuné. Today, he’s one of the most sought-after DJs in the world. His style is glamorous, fun, and hard. It’s allowed to be decadent; it’s allowed to love life.
DJ LUCA C (UK)
Luca C is known to most people as the handsome guitar player from Cazals. But in addition to Cazals, Luca has done loads of tasteful DJ-mixes. After a hysterical 80s mix that was distributed through Discobelle and Cazal’s MySpace, rumors of his sets began to spread.
Luca C does exclusive sets between Cazal tours. Rumor has it that a Luca C project is to be released on Kitsuné later this year. This man is certainly worth paying attention to. Clean, tasteful mixing and the best start imaginable start to this year’s event.

BOOKA SHADE (DE)
It’s a great pleasure that our friends in Booka Shade are finally coming back to Sunkissed. Now they’re touring with their new album, and since their last visit, they’ve only continued their meteoric journey towards the top. On the new album, ‘The Sun & The Neon Lights’, Booka Shade deliver material that leans just as much toward day as night. The club tracks are still present, especially the remix editions on the singles to come, but this is also a vocal-based album with songs that are easy on the ears both on radio and on your home stereo. What remains constant, however, are the solid production and melodies that’ll make your hairs stand on end. With ‘The Sun & The Neon Lights’, Booka Shade are ready for a breakthrough also beyond the club scene. We’re sure that Booka Shade won’t hold back on the energy at Sunkissed, and we’re also sure that this will be our last chance to see them perform on a stage this small and intimate.
ADAM BEYER & JOEL MULL [SE]
Adam Beyer (SE)
Undoubtedly the best and most famous DJ in both Sweden and all of Scandinavia. Together with Cari Lekebusch and Joel Mull, he has taken part in shaping the distinct Stockholm techno sound. With his own record company Drumcode and a vast discography on cred labels like plus 8. Code Red, Svek, Planet Rhythm, Fabric, and more, he continues to belong among the top techno and minimalist producers.
Joel Mull (SE)
Having lived in Hamburg, Germany, for a few years, where he was a regular DJ at Unit Club on the Reperbahn, Joel moved back to Sweden in 1998 and started his own label, Imprint. A childhood friend of Adam Beyer, Joel contributed to the development of the distinct Stockholm sound. It is his many releases on labels like Cocoon, Kanzleramt, Turbo, Underwater, Audiomatique, and Harthouse, as well as various Swedish ones, taht have secured him a place among the big names in techno.

MONTÉE (N/LIVE)
G-HA & OLANSKII (N)
ANDREW WEATHERALL (UK – Warp/Two Lone Swordsmen)
Primal Scream, Warp, Sabres of Paradise, Two Lone Swordsmen, Shoom, Acid
house, elctronica, punk, fabric – through nearly two decades, Andrew Weatherall has been a central part of the avant-garde of electronic music. He has added heavy electronica to live music, played electronic music live, and mixed the two with both integrity and success. That he has just as many fans among rockers as the house crowd should indicate that this is a man who has taken part in defining the genre and been an inspiration to many.
ICONOCLASTIC w/Deadswan, Chris Lynch, and Of Norway (N/LIVE)
Iconoclastic recently received the Oslo Award in the Best Club category. Well-earned, we say! Deadswan and Chris Lynch have long been running one of Oslo’s most colorful and exciting club concepts. They currently reside at Oslo’s undoubtedly hottest club, The Villa. This time around, Iconoclastic will get an entire room at their disposal during ØYA:SUNKISSED at Fabrikken. In addition to Iconoclastic’s regular DJS, Chris Lynch will join forces with Lil’ Wolf and Oslo’s new house and techno dream team Of Norway. With only a few releases, remixes, and one very wicked DiskJokke remix, Of Norway have definitely made a name for themselves during the past year. We expect a lot from these guys, and we can’t wait to see them make the crowd go wild at Fabrikken once again.
MONTÉE (N/LIVE)
Montée makes progressive pop music for both head and feet. With references fanning out in various directions – Daft Punk, Herbie Hancock, The Knife, Roxy Music, Jamie Lidell, and Funkadelic – their music is not easily described. But it definitely rocks. A new album will be out this fall, plus a remix of Chromeo himself. What we’ve heard so far, is guaranteed to bring the crowd at Fabrikken to a boil.

RONNI RABALDER (N)
CLAUDE VonSTROKE (US/DirtyBird)
The Career of Barclay Crenshaw, a.k.a. Claude VonStroke, has skyrocketed since he released his first 12-inches, “Deep Throat” and “Seven Deadly Strokes”, in 2005. The second single, “The Whistler” / “Who’s Afraid of Detroit”, became international club hits, and the man himself, Richie Hawtin, declared “Who’s Afraid of Detroit” the best song of 2006! The same year, Barclay followed up with the critically acclaimed album “Beware of the Bird”, and remixed everything from The Rapture to Kevin Saunderson. In addition, Barclay also runs the reputable record company DirtyBird, on which most of his catalogue has been released, as well as the minimal and techno label Mothership (with acts like Samim, Italoboyz, Todd Bodine, and P. Toile). This summer, his second album will be out, and by the looks of it, the first single, “Ground Hog Day”, is becoming a huge hit at Ibiza and on the entire club scene across the globe. As a DJ, Barclay is varied and energetic, and never predictable. Some of the humor and the snap found with DirtyBird (just look at the logo…) is reflected in Mr. VonStroke’s selection of music. The result is right up Sunkissed’s alley: high-paced, deep, and slightly loco.
MENTAL OVERDRIVE (N/LIVE)
Per Martinsen, a.k.a. Mental Overdrive, is one of the pioneers of Norwegian electronica. He was part of the Tromsø scene, which i.a. included the guys in Röyksopp, Bjørn Torske, Doc L. Junior, Rune Lindbæk, and Biosphere. Smalltown Supersound recently released a whole compilation of Mental Overdrive material from the nineties. Per is out now with a new album, ‘You Are Being Manipulated’, on above mentioned label, as well as a series of 12” on Prins Thomas’ label Full Pupp.
TRULZ OG ROBIN (N/LIVE)
Trulz & Robin have been part of Oslo’s techno and house scene for many years, and it’s not unusual that their performances make you feel like you’re back in the good ol’ days – in a dark warehouse and with trembling sensation that you’re taking part in something that may not be legal, but still feels oh, so good. Trulz & Robin will bring this year’s ØYA:SUNKISSED to a worthy, though maybe somewhat crazy conclusion!

These long-haired old timers have since the early nineties been playing reggae from their base in Bodø – Scandinavia’s Addis Abeba. At first they were called Irie Darlings, as whom they actually climbed the charts in Jamaica, and later as Manna, with lyrics in a broad, North-Norwegian dialect.
Earlier this they released the album “Salma i dub”, which is comprised of a remixes done by a handful of prominent Norwegian DJs, and it is this release this evening will center around. Bjørn Torske will dub it up live, accompanied by DJ SUnshine and DJ Strangefruit, who will keep the floor packed until the lights go on.
DEATHSTEP (Are Mokkelbost vs. Tony Wilson)
Back in Lillerommet [The Small Room], Are Mokkelbost and Tony Wilson will – through their insane Deathstep concept – be duelling about whether black metal or grime rocks the most.

The Field (SE)
The Field, a.k.a. Axel Willner, burst onto the techno scene in 2005 with the 12” ’Things Keep Falling Down’ on the German techno label Kompakt. Since then, Alex Wilner has demonstrated a rare ability to cross musical borders, which also has gained him a large audience that includes everything from rockers to techno freaks. He has a production style that draws upon both minimalistic techno and shoegazer rock like My Bloody Valentine. The Field will be performing in Oslo with a full live line-up.

Buraka Som Sistema DJ set (PT)
Buraka Som Sistema come from the outskirts of Lisbon, Portugal, and are inspired by ”kuduro”, a style of music that originates from the former Portuguese colony Angola. The word translates into English as ”hard ass”. Buraka Som Sistema plays genuine party music that includes and mixes elements from the aforementioned kuduro, as well as grime, hip hop, house, and baile funk. They also mix African elements with European in their own unique way. They’re signed to cred label Modular, which also is home to e.g. bands like Wolfmother, Klaxons, New Young Pony Club, and the Norwegian act The Whitest Boy Alive. In an interview in the Norwegian mag PlanB this spring, they described themselves as follows: “We present ourselves to the audience in two ways: through the live shows, and through the DJ sets. When we do DJ sets, we’re two DJs and one MC who rock the audience and mix kuduro, grime, drum’n’bass, and funk carioca,” – Buraka Som Sistema
Fitts For Fight (N)
”Norwegian act Fitts for Fight became target of hatred #1 of a united Norwegian music biz when they were caught stealing other people’s music. Now, these little girls from Kristiansand are back with their pockets full of self-composed material, and they still sport the same badass attitude. Electro with balls, though without nuts… or something like that. Long live the thieves!” – Tore Jazztobakk
