FAN FANZINE
Fan Fanzine is a new free magazine about music. The fanzine has come about as a result of an impressive joint effort between some of Norway’s finest music websites and blogs. Kjeft a! does the design, while Smuglesning, Groove, Furore i Harare and Musikknyheter, as well as many independent writers and illustrators, deliver the contents. Every cover is designed by an up-and-coming Norwegian artist.
Fan Fanzine has adapted an expanded notion of culture, with a main focus on music. The content spans from long articles, essays and interviews to short reviews, recommendations and culture-related tips; from famous international acts to the next Norwegian underground faves, as well as everything in between – and all of it put down on paper through a personal and unafraid pen. We present the cream of the crop among new and exciting artists from all genres, as well as the good ol’ stayers who keep proving they deserve to be reckoned with. Our goal is to be a driving force behind the less commercial music, but still maintain a wide enough approach to reach fans on all levels.
Fan Fanzine will also offer a detailed calendar with info on gigs and events at clubs and venues, including tips on what the readers simply cannot miss, and not least why. If something ridiculously wicked is coming up, you will be able to read about it in Fan Fanzine.
Every single contributor chooses for him- or herself exactly what to write about, and how to do it. Complete artistic freedom is the only reward; the work is voluntary and unpaid. We will not be using space on uninspired advertisements for mainstream albums currently out, but rather dedicate ourselves entirely to writing about the music we care about, be it genres wide or narrow, music new or old. More interesting to write, more interesting to read.
