NAVIGATORS TO ØYA
Navigators are ready for Øya. Lately, these lads have been getting a lot of airtime on Norwegian radio with the single “Wall of Stone”. In August you can come and check ’em out at Øya.
NAVIGATORS (NO)
We’ve been lucky enough to get a pre-listen to parts of the new Navigators album, and we really think that this could be the start of something big. Navigators hail from the cities of Halden and Fredrikstad. Many might recognize songwriter and singer Trond Andreassen from one of the greatest acts ever in Norwegian rock, Ricochets. From that line-up, Andreassen has brought along Svenn Poppe on keys. The rest of the members come from acts like Remington Super 60, Corazon and Tellusalie.
New material has been highly anticipated since his previous band dissolved about three years ago. Rumors have been going around for a while that good things really do come to those who wait. The general public has now gotten their first real taste through the radio hit “Wall of Stone”. It clearly indicates that the band is hungry and ready to reach a far wider audience than any of these boys have done before. The material is easily recognizable to those who have followed Trond Andreassen for a long time, but the songs have a greater country element than before. The other pre-tastes we’ve gotten from the album, which will be out on Sony in 2010, bode very well. Even though the sound might seem somewhat softer, the songs still have a generous portion of gloomy seriousness. 2010 will be the year of the Navigators, we’re sure.
